iOS Distribution Certificates and Provisioning Profiles
Your certificate, Bundle ID and provisioning profile must match. Understanding this relationship prevents many signing and upload errors.
1. The three key components
A distribution certificate identifies the publisher, a Bundle ID identifies the app, and a provisioning profile connects the certificate, app identifier and distribution method.
2. Recommended setup order
Confirm the Bundle ID first, create a valid Apple Distribution certificate, then generate and download an App Store provisioning profile.
3. What to verify
Check the certificate expiration date, developer team, exact Bundle ID and the certificate included in the profile. Do not mix files from different teams.
4. Renewal and security
After renewing a certificate, regenerate affected profiles. Protect P12 files and passwords, and never expose credentials in screenshots or public repositories.
